Gathered panel dress with modern detailing in the front panel created from an original approach.
This season's theme, “Beyond the haze (unreachable reality),” was inspired by the work of German abstract painter Gerhard Richter and the concepts he tried to express.
We focused on the concept of “Schein/Shine(※),” which he tried to express, and tried if we could layer a new elegance and intelligence to the wearer by incorporating Schein, which separates us from reality, as a symbolic design.
The dress, developed from his painting “Large Curtain (1967),” depicts a curtain that is only halfway open, shutting us off from the outside world, and is sublimated as a metaphor for “unreachable reality."
The strings attached to the panels and body are crossed and tied at the back to bring the whole piece together elegantly, and at the same time, the rings attached to the ends of the strings are intentionally different shapes to express the “arbitrariness” seen in Richter's representative abstract paintings.
Cotton linen, with its unique texture and softness, is used as the material, bringing together the original design with a natural air feel.
This dress, which has this season's context, are a modern update of everyday style, with a sophisticated appearance and a piece that triggers the wearer's individuality and creativity.
※ Schein / Shine...a concept that Richter is said to have tried to express throughout his life. It refers to the layer of air (or light) between oneself and the thing one is facing. Schein is a generic term for glass, lake surfaces, mirrored surfaces, and other objects that are not instantly recognizable, but whose presence can be recognized through reflections or reflections of something. Richter expressed the wall or distance from unreachable reality by painting Schein.
