Abstract graphics drawn with a bold touch bring a new elegance to this knot-sleeve pullover.
This season's theme, “The Beauty of Practice Pieces,” was inspired by the impressionist painters active in the mid-19th century, such as Claude Monet and Paul Cezanne, who found beauty in practice pieces (practice art works or preliminary sketches).
By incorporating their expressions into the process of clothing modeling, we explored what beauty really is, and tried to create new expressions based on the idea that beauty in fashion is not only in the finished product, but also in the process of creation and in the unfinished product.
This season's graphic series, titled “Auvers,” is named after Auvers-sur-Oise, the town where Cézanne mastered his original painting technique, as a symbol of the season's air feel.
The graphics, which were created by developing the “brush tactile division(※)” technique used by the artists, express new values of beauty through the power of color itself and abstract composition, rather than through the depiction of some object, by dynamically adjoining colors.
Graphic items in this season's context not only produce a unique and original elegance, but also enrich the creativity and sensibility of the wearer.
The sleeves, with their original cut on the minimal body, have been sublimated into a pullover with a new elegance by adopting the Japanese gesture style of “Knotting."
The sleeves are attached as if gently draped over the shoulders, and the volume and drape created by tying the ends give off an unprecedented fresh air, giving this piece an individuality like no other.
In addition, the boat neckline, which beautifully produces the décolleté, adds a modern nuance to this piece.
The material is rayon modal, which has a beautiful supple fall and dull luster, and its soft texture gives off a luxurious mood.
While being an item that can be used for daily activities, this piece with AKIRANAKA's unique character invites toward a style of mature women with a sense of esprit.
※ Brush tactile division: A technique in which, instead of mixing paints to create a color, the colors are arranged so that each brushstroke is next to each other without mixing the colors, so that the colors of adjacent brushstrokes are mixed together in a pseudo way through the human eye, making the different colors appear to be one color.
